This page archives the items Taco Bell tested throughout the country in the year 2016.

Reverse Quesarito

The Reverse Quesarito tested during Experience 3 2016 which lasted from March 10th to April 20th. It featured a layer of two tortillas sandwiching meat wrapped around a cheesy core (as opposed to a quesadilla wrapped around a meaty core).

Two versions were tested at locations in Toledo, OH; the Spicy Core Burrito and the Crunchy Core Burrito.

The Spicy Core Burrito looks to have a layer of meat (seasoned ground beef, chicken, or steak), rice, and hot sauce in the outer layer and a core of nacho cheese, shredded cheese, and jalapenos.

The Crunchy Core Burrito includes the same layer of meat, rice, and hot sauce but with a core of nacho cheese, shredded cheese, and red tortilla strips.

Both priced at $1.99 for the seasoned ground beef version and were also available in a $5.99 Big Box along with a DLT, Crunchy Taco, and medium drink.

This item was later released nationwide for Experience 7 2016, renamed as the Cheesy Core Burrito. The release kept the same price points and lasted from August 11th to September 14th.

Boss Burritos

The Boss Burritos tested during Experience 3 2016 which lasted from March 10th to April 20th. Boss Burritos follow in the footsteps of the Boss Wraps that were a national item late 2015 and featured crispy potatoes, bacon, chipotle sauce, sour cream and a double portion of your choice of Steak/Chicken ($5.99) or Beef ($4.99).

This item was later released nationwide for Experience 10 2016, renamed as the Steakhouse Burrito and added a new queso ingredient. The release kept similar price points and also included nachos. These were nationwide from November 17th to December 21st.
